I got something in my mind and I don’t know exactly how I want to phrase it,  so I’m going to just type it out and hope it makes sense.  With the loss of the space shuttle seven and the events of the past few months I’ve been thinking about my own personal beliefs.  Religion or the lack of, is a personal choice and there are many variations to it.  How can any ONE be the “right” ONE?  My opinion is people should be free to believe what makes them comfortable as long as it doesn’t hurt another person or that persons loved ones.
What do I believe in?  I believe in God.  I believe in the ten commandments. I believe that this is a stopping ground and there is more after this life.  I call myself a christian though many will feel I don’t have the right.  Here’s my point..

I don’t care what other people think.  I don’t care if people think I swear too much. That I’m going to hell because I had sex before I got married.  I don’t feel that God punishes people for not going to church on Sunday, I think if you believe what difference does it make?
You know what else?  I’m pro-choice-I’ve seen too many babies starved by ignorance to believe bringing unwanted children into the world is a good idea.
I believe that homosexuals should be free to love whomever they choose and be allowed to have all the same benefits as hetro couples.  Love is love, no matter how the body parts work.
I believe every person should follow whatever beliefs they are comfortable with.  My brother is an atheist, he is still my brother, should I love him less?  What we have is a relationship where we love the person and accept who they are and what they are.  When people attack him or others because their beliefs are different all I feel is sadness.
The thing is religion is like race, it is only an issue if you make it out be.  If you choose not to like me or others because of our differences, it is purely your loss.  There are a lot of great people in this world and are you going to miss the oppurtunity to get to know them because your god is not theirs?
Those seven astronauts in the shuttle were from different backgrounds, but they were together to explore and learn.  Shouldn’t we do that too?  Now that they have left this world does it matter what they believed or does it matter that they were here?  Nobody knows for sure where we go from here, but we do know what’s going on right now.
