Took mom in for her second surgery today and all went well. She wasn’t as loopy as she was last time, the surgery was quicker and her recovery time was shorter. All around if somebody is having eye surgery it is the results you want. Which is cool because she could use a break. We had a great time at the concert and Bob was the best. But ma took a little tumble and gave herself some bruised ribs. The her truck wouldn’t start, but the palace has tow trucks there so we got a jump. Still a good time was had by us both.
Spent New Years working which was fine with me. I kind of wasn’t in the mood to party anyway. Some friends text me and other people called to wish me a happy new year. I didn’t make any resolutions okay I made the quit drinking pop one, but I only made it through the 2nd. Other then that I figured what the fuck lets see what life brings.
So work is going pretty good. I was disappointed that my boss wouldn’t be back on the 8th as she hoped. So now I have to hold down the fort a little while longer which is good because I’m still trying to save up money for my trip. I’m hell bent I’m going now it’s just getting the cash.
Other then that life is pretty routine. Work, sleep and work. How’s life? How was New Years?

If I had to pick someone to get hurt with it would be this Cindy girl. Not only has she a cool head but she is strong enough to help get me off the floor. So if you need someone to share life’s little trips and falls around I have to nominate my sweet daughter!

Several years ago my mother had eye surgery done, and elected me to take her to and from the doctor’s office. One of the first things they did, of course, was give my mother some Vicodin and Valium in preparation for the surgery.
My mother, while not altogether prim and proper, has never been one to imbibe in any sort of mood altering substance. Her biggest vice is coffee, and now that she is older she only drinks decaf.
Anyway, as the drugs took effect, mom got chatty, and the chattier she got, the more interesting the topics. Soon she realized she was getting pretty stoned off the drugs they gave her, and she turned to me, in a waiting room with about six or seven people in it, and said, “I bet you never thought you would see your old lady fucked up before, would you?”
I was shocked. My mother never would talk like that in public!
She later asked me if I would make her “pancakes with butter”, when we got home, even though it was quite evident good old mom was gonna be out like a light by the time we got there. She kept asking for the pancakes with butter all the way home, and when we got home, she asked me again as I helped her get up the stairs, and into bed. I told her, “Mom, I am going to go make you your pancakes. Just wait here in bed, and I will bring them right up.” She looked like Lucy on the Vitametavegemin episode, and she told me what a good son I was, and then she laid down.
I went downstairs, turned on the TV, and started to watch some game show. After a few minutes, when the first commercial came on, I went back upstairs and found mother fast asleep, sawing logs as if her life depended on it.
I remind her of that day every once in a while. It’s one of our best memories.
I am glad your mother is OK, and I am really glad you all had a nice time at the concert. If anyone deserves a night like that, it is you and your sweet mother.

I know despite the bruises your mom had a good time just being with you.
Glad the surgery went ok.
New Years was nice here...friends and family over and played games and talked and relaxed.
